Specially designed by practicing clinicians from Emergency Medicine and Palliative Care, this course provides busy clinicians with generalist palliative care skills and knowledge to meet the needs of patients with serious life-limiting diseases in the Emergency Department.

This certificate course covers the foundational principles and practice of palliative care. It aims to build professional competency and confidence by equipping participants with the necessary knowledge and basic skills to work with patients and families facing life-threatening illnesses. The trainers in this course range from experienced social workers to doctors and nurses from the field of palliative care. The content is presented through interactive lectures, discussions and role play activities conducted in classroom teaching.

This workshop will equip clinicians with the skills to conduct serious illness conversations with patients and families. The Serious Illness Conversation Program offers healthcare professionals a structure and language to talk with seriously ill patients about their goals, values and wishes in advancing illness.
