Serious Illness Conversations Workshop

OVERVIEW

This 1.5-day workshop will equip healthcare professionals (HCP) with the skills to conduct serious illness conversations (SIC) with patients and families. The SIC Program offers HCP a structure and language to talk with seriously ill patients about their values and goals as part of shared decision making.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  • Appreciate the benefits of serious illness conversations
  • Discuss the evidence for the Serious Illness Conversation (SIC) Program
  • Identify key elements of the SIC Guide
  • Practise use of the SIC Guide
  • Understand how SIC fits into continuum of Advanced Care Planning
  • Discuss the barriers and enablers to real world implementation of the SIC Program

Pre-course
Participants will be enrolled in our e-learning module (COMET) prior to the workshop and will be required to complete the online course before the face-to-face sessions.

Nurses, MSWs and Other Healthcare Professionals: SGD$300
All fees indicated are before GST

Continuing education credits are available for LCPC events through the Singapore Medical Council (SMC), Singapore Nursing Board (SNB), Singapore Pharmacy Council (SPC) and Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC), subject to their respective approvals.

Upon completion of the workshop, participants can receive up to 6 CPE points from SMC/SNB/AHPC or up to 5 CPE points from SPC.

Attendees who wish to earn credits are required to sign the relevant registration form along with their CPE/CME number on the day(s) of the events.

The attendee’s registration details will be submitted after the event and credited upon receiving respective approvals.

FACE-TO-FACE WORKSHOP

TARGET AUDIENCE

This program is for doctors, nurses, social workers and other healthcare professionals who care for patients with serious illnesses and have a passion to learn communication skills to conduct serious illness conversations.

Proficiency in English
Ability to commit to entire workshop (Full 1.5 days at face-to-face workshop)
