Welcome to BooST ICU: Boosting Supportive care Training for ICUs
OVERVIEW
Join us for the first fully online Palliative Care Course for Intensive Care Units (ICUs) healthcare practitioners in Singapore! This interactive, asynchronous course aims to equip ICU clinicians with the necessary knowledge and skills to identify, address, and manage common supportive and palliative care needs of ICU patients. The experience of ICU patients is often traumatic, and this course will supplement participants’ pre-existing skills so as to further enhance their ability to support patients and improve quality of care.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
At the end of the course, learners will be able to:
1. Understand different models of care for providing generalist and specialist palliative care in the ICU
2. Communicate with families using the Serious Illness Conversation Guide to understand patient's values and preferences
3. Analyse complex ethical issues using the Jonsen's 4-Box Approach
4. Understand the importance of standardizing the compassionate removal of mechanical ventilation
5. Describe the considerations in a compassionate discharge
6. Identify and respond to acute grief reactions
DETAILS
Learners will access materials such as videos, animated presentations, readings, assessments on the Learning Management System (LMS) at their own pace and time.
Estimated time required is 7 hours.
Learners have access to the materials for one month upon successful registration.
The online self-paced learning is supplemented by an online forum that will address any questions and comments at the end of the course.
