Join us for the first fully online Palliative Care Course for Intensive Care Units (ICUs) healthcare practitioners in Singapore! This interactive, asynchronous course aims to equip ICU clinicians with the necessary knowledge and skills to identify, address, and manage common supportive and palliative care needs of ICU patients. The experience of ICU patients is often traumatic, and this course will supplement participants’ pre-existing skills so as to further enhance their ability to support patients and improve quality of care.

Jointly developed by the Lien Centre for Palliative Care and the National Neuroscience Institute, this interactive asynchronous course equips healthcare professionals with basic clinical knowledge of common serious neurological conditions. Unlike other organ failures, neurological "failure" encompasses a range of progressive, often incurable, and chronic conditions with long prognoses. Before integrating the palliative care approach to these conditions, healthcare professionals need foundational knowledge of their characteristics, diagnosis, and management. This course is highly recommended for non-neurologists prior to the launch of the Neuro Supportive Care Course in 2026.

Cluster randomized trials (CRTs) are an important research method for evaluating medical and health services interventions in contexts that resemble real-world situations. As compared to individual randomized trials, its benefits include ease of implementation, improving acceptability, estimation of population-level effect, and prevention of non-compliance and contamination. However, there are also challenges and pitfalls. This course will cover the design and analysis of major types of CRTs, including parallel group, pair-matched, cross-over, and stepped-wedge CRTs. Lectures on principles, methods, and practical issues will be illustrated with real-life case studies and complemented by tutorials and computer-based practical exercises. The course will adopt a pragmatic approach and keep mathematics to a minimum.
