Palliative Care Course for Social Workers (Advanced)

OVERVIEW

LCPC proposes an advanced structured course to train social workers from community and hospital settings to deliver appropriate and effective end-of-life psychosocial care. A workgroup comprising of 8 practicing social workers and psychologists from various healthcare institutions across Singapore will be appointed to develop the content and advise on the curriculum.

This blended learning modular course will build upon an existing basic course designed specifically for social workers and cover in increased breadth and depth a range of topics relevant to social workers managing patients with life-limiting progressive illnesses. A supervision component will be incorporated into the course to facilitate learning in an authentic environment.

Multiple Choice and Short Answer Questions
Portfolio of case studies with applied clinical reasoning (For the supervision component)

DURATION

6 months part-time study (July - December 2019)
(Inclusive of online learning, 12 face-to-face sessions and clinical supervision)

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

Upon successful completion, participants would be awarded a Certificate of Completion by LCPC and Continuing Professional Education (CPE) points by Social Work Accreditation and Advisory Board (SWAAB).

COST :  SGD 3028 (Inclusive of GST)

This course is supported and accredited by the Social Work Accreditation and Advisory Board (SWAAB).

BLENDED LEARNING

TARGET AUDIENCE

Social Workers who are interested in learning more about working with patients and families facing life threatening illnesses. Priority will be given to social workers who are working in the palliative care setting.

PREREQUISITES    

A recognized degree in Social Work  

At least 2 years of social work experience

Proficiency in English

Ability to commit to the whole course
