Objectives
On completion of the course the candidate is expected to be able to

  • Have a deep appreciation of the spectrum of activities that make up clinical research
  • Identify the appropriate research questions required to solve a specific clinical problem
  • Conceptualize, plan and cost a clinical study
  • Understand the principles underpinning the selection of candidate therapeutics

Class Format
Team-Based learning format incorporating IRA, GRA and applications.
Adult-education strategies are used in this course

  • students are assigned required readings before sessions
  • sessions start with a mini-quiz on the assigned reading
  • this is followed by lecture or interactive session
  • session ends with students solving a problem

Students will be divided into groups of 2-3 and will be assign a clinical problem in the middle of the course. The group will be required to conceptualise, plan and cost a clinical study to solve that clinical problem and will be required to present their research plan.
